Free Joomla TemplatesAre you a do it yourselfer? At Brandalier, we totally understand. As a matter of fact, it is how I got started as a website developer. Starting out with one of these templates will help you to understand how Joomla operates. I recommend downloading a quick start package from one of these Joomla template developers to begin. I’m a visual learner and when I can see how the menus and modules are laid out, it helps me to understand how I can create my own. Here is a list of free Joomla templates: RocketTheme: Afterburner2 YooTheme: Master 2 GavickPro: Meet Gavern JoomlaShine: Multiple Free Templates Joomlart: Purity III Joomlashack: Wright V3 There is a little bit of a learning curve to this, but don’t get frustrated. Once you do it you’ll see it isn’t that difficult. Often it is our intimidation of technology that causes 90% of the frustration. Here are some quick tips if you have cpanel:
- FTP the quick start zip file to your web host and extract it.
- Create a mySQL database and user. Assign the user to the database, and give it “all” permissions. Write down your database credentials because you’ll need them in the next step. I copy the generated password to notepad so I can copy/paste it during the installation.
- Navigate in your browser to your website URL and an installation screen should appear.
- Follow the steps on the screen. If you don’t know what something means, hover over the tooltip for instructions.
